Descriptions:
2017 NCECA Conference session featuring Dara Green.
Change is among us! It can be simple and it is exciting!
Session participates will learn simple ways of blending technology in their class ceramic studio and how doing so can exceed the needs of learners with a flipped studio model which supports creativity and innovation through the design of rigorous curriculum with the students’ ability to access instruction at any time!
Additionally, we will explore social media platforms students are already using to build community, strengthen curriculum and share our stories.
During this session, participates will learn about a journey to a fully FLIPPED high school ceramic studio, along with super simple ways of FLIPPING their own lessons, activities or entire class and the endless possibilities of social media on class climate, culture, community and curriculum.
This presentation will inspire participates to use and adapt the flipped model to meet the needs of their studios and see the value in utilizing social media to engage students in becoming active members of their communities.
This experience will provide a brief explanation of a flipped studio, the sharing of the accident that resulted in a flipped studio, the triumph of the teacher, the complete transparency of instruction for students, parents, administration and the community, the magic of students taking complete ownership of learning and the endless possibilities.
Participates are encouraged to have or set up Instagram and Twitter accounts before attending the session.
