Welcome back to Liang Ceramic Studio! 🌱

In this video, I want to share something a little different. We often only see the perfect, finished pieces on social media, but behind the scenes, there are countless failures. As April warms up here in the Northeast and the grape hyacinths bloom, I wanted to create a collection inspired by “renewal.”

But reality hit hard. From plates collapsing under their own weight to my unsuccessful first attempts at making chili jars and vinegar cruets (despite trying to channel the Zisha artisans of Yixing!), the studio was full of frustration this week. Even my son had a little meltdown tossing clay all over the floor!

But failure is an inevitable part of pottery. After making some cute chopstick rests to unwind, I decided to embrace these messy moments. Just like every spring—we take a deep breath, start over, and grow anew.
