Descriptions:
Part Two of the American ceramics history film, Revolutions of the Wheel begins, with the westward movement of artists to California. Glen Lukens’ artistry is examined along with the Bauhaus influence of Marguerite Wildenhain. We review documentation on one of the 20th Century’s most influential American potters, Peter Voulkos, and his early years throwing pots at the Archie Bray Institute in Montana, as well as Japanese master potter Shoji Hamada during his visit to the Institute, accompanied by famed English potter, Bernard Leach.
