📢 Shop Update: The mugs in this video is now available in my Ceramic Art Store http://shop.wanyingliang.com/

Have you ever encountered strange, glassy hard spots in your reclaimed clay? 🧐

In this studio vlog, I’m back on the wheel throwing some new plates and bowls for my Yukon collection, capturing beautiful shell textures from the ocean. Of course, studio life isn’t complete without a delicious burrito break to fuel the creativity! 🌯✨

Everything was going perfectly—until the final glaze firing. When the kiln opened, I noticed tiny divots on the surface where those mysterious hard bits had completely melted like glaze!

Could this be a classic case of soluble salt migration and crystallization in old clay, or something else?

Let me know your thoughts and theories in the comments below! 👇
